AREOLA MICROPIGMENTATION (TATTOOING OF AREOLA & NIPPLE)

Areola MicroPigmentation Process - Topical anesthetics are applied prior to the medical tattooing process to reduce the pricking sensation. However, in many of the cases full sensation may not have been restored following the reconstructive surgery and hence the patient feels very little. The nipple and areola are created initially on the breast mound using a surgical marker, and only when the patient indicates that she is content with the position and form will the medical tattooing procedure begin. The pigment infusion process normally takes 60 to 70 minutes and does not require admission to a hospital.

Areola MicroPigmentation Post Procedure care is simple. A patient will need to apply an antiseptic cream twice a day and keep the nipple and areola covered with sterile gauze for two days. A follow up procedure is normally required after four to six weeks, in order to allow final adjustments to be made to the shape and color of the nipple and areola.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PERIOD LIKE? Depending on the person, a light crust will form after a few days. This will fall off in four or five days. During this time the pigmented area will look a little darker than the final color. After the crust falls off it should lighten to the color you want.

HOW SOON AFTERWARD CAN I GO OUT? Immediately. For the first few days you will look like you are wearing your makeup heavier than usual. Sometimes the crusting is slightly visible, but usually not enough to be obvious.
